The Government has issued a new Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules in order to implement its 'Plan for Growth' measures, which aims to simplify the Immigration Rules. The changes introduced new Global Business Mobility, High Potential Individual and Scale-up visa routes.
This article outline the new criteria for each new visa route.
Global Business Mobility routes
The Global Business Mobility routes are a new category of sponsored routes for overseas businesses seeking to establish a presence in, or transfer staff to, the UK for specific business purposes. The routes will replace four existing business mobility provisions and create a new provision for secondments.
Five visa routes effective 11 April have been drawn up, but no agreement has been reached on any of them:
Graduate trainee. The postgraduate trainee route is for workers on postgraduate training courses leading to senior management or professional positions requiring an internship in the UK.
Seconded workers, a new route for “overseas workers whose workers are sent to the UK as part of a quality contract or investment by an overseas employer and who have temporary work assignments in the UK”.
A senior or specialist worker replaces an in-house transfer route. This route is intended for managers or professional staff assigned to a UK company associated with an overseas employer.
Service Providers Replace Contractual Service Providers and Self-Employed Professionals Rules with Temporary Workers - International Agreement. The Service Provider Route is for contractual service providers employed by foreign service providers and those traveling abroad who are required to perform a mission in the UK to provide a service that falls under the UK's international trade obligations Kingdom Fall. Intended for based, self-employed independent professionals.
UK Expansion Worker replaces the sole agent for the visa category of overseas business. This pass is for senior management or professional staff seconded to the UK to carry out work related to the expansion of a company to the UK.
